Dmitry's Fun With Piano

Though the years I've played music at countless venues events and concerts with many different bands, always striving to grow and expand musically.
About Me:
We had an old upright piano in our Ukraine apartment that sounded decent. At first I played by ear, and then when I was 6 years of age, I was accepted into the Lviv School of Music where I studied music formally, and also privately with different piano teachers, until we immigrated from Ukraine to the US. I still play by ear. I'm also a graphic designer, art director and work with clients in that field. More info at www.dmitrypanich.com

My father, Boris, who was also a musician, introduced me to the piano, and when I was 6 let me steer his car. When I was 10 let me play with his wedding band at a real wedding. Both experiences were profound. My father was a tremendous influence on me, and he will always have my gratitude and respect. Especially grateful to Boris for getting us out of the Soviet Union.

The Visitors, a San Francisco original rock band I joined on keys in the 80s. We played in many bars in the bay area including The Stone, The Omni, Uncle Charlies, Oasis...that list is long. Russell Golub, an incredible shredder guitarist, was the lead song writer & lead guitarist in the band. My life-long friend and lead singer in the Visitors, Mauricio Garay, I also met upon joining this group. He later joined me on many musical adventures including the Russia House which I'll mention too.

My wife Zhanna. Also my love, muse, drive and inspiration.
In parallel to original music bands above, I was also playing many Russian/Jewish/American casuals with amazing musicians who helped expand my repertoire and playing immensely. Music Box: a Russian band I started with Emma Z became the house band at the famous Russia House in San Francisco for over 10 years in the 90s. Amazing years of growing with Mauricio Garay (vocals), Dan Eickmann (guitar), Bob Coons (guitar) and Ilya Rayzman (violin) (rest in peace Ilyusha). It was a fun amazing Russian immigrant scene where I eventually met my wife and now we have two already grown daughters, Diana and Angela.
I exited the Russian restaurant scene in 2001, and joined a well known in the community singer, Regina, forming a band with her called Regina's All Stars and playing countless weddings and private events in San Francisco Bay Area, as well as in San Diego, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Minneapolis. We specialized in international pop music and good energetic non-stop dancing playing in Russian, Ukrainian, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Jewish/Israeli (both traditional and modern). Regina and I still perform at private events.

Bedrock was a funk band project which Warner Harrison (rest in peace Warner) founded in the 90s. We were a tight well rehearsed band that played at many Bay Area clubs and festivals, and opened for Taylor Dayne at the Golden Gate fields. I met many cool and amazing musicians in this band, including singer Randy Darbonne (rest in peace Randy), guitarist Kevin Bushman and drummer Greg Rule.

In 2015 I collaborated with DJ Jeff Cavanaugh playing House Music, remixing songs live and in the studio. We had a few signed contracts with indie labels such as Ospina and MuSoul releasing remixes and original songs, and ran a radio show for a few years called InHouse Radio with Jeff and Dmitry where we played music and interviewed many local DJs, promoters, and interesting people on the scene.
